No Broughton Fireworks Display 2013

For many years there has been a bonfire and fireworks display in Broughton, around 5 November.   This year, however, the event will NOT take place.

Some planning work was done and the matter was discussed by the Community Council at their meeting on 21 October.   However, it was clear that there were not enough adult volunteers to help on the night this year, so the event could not go ahead.   We are very sorry for the disappointment this will cause, particularly to the children who were planning to attend.   We hope that some of them may be able to go to displays in neighbouring villages - for example, we understand that one will take place in Skirling at 6.30pm on Tuesday 5 November.

A meeting will be held next Spring, to invite volunteers to come forward to help with a possible display in Broughton in November 2014.   If enough people attend that meeting, there should be plenty of time to make all the necessary arrangements.
